Terms of Service

Last updated: November 3, 2026

1. Service and eligibility

LifeMapping is provided by Renjie Pan in Australia to record and revisit personal experiences through Journey, Explore, Milestones and Memories. These Terms cover the app and lifemapping.me. You must be at least 18, read these Terms before use and accept them as required.

Do not use the service for covert tracking of others, harassment, privacy violations or other unlawful activities.

2. Your content and software license

You retain rights in your journeys, photos and personal content. Using the app does not authorize us to publish that content or use it for advertising or AI training. Check your right to share content and any sensitive information it reveals.

We and our licensors retain rights in the software, branding and website materials; open-source components retain their own licenses. The app is subject to Apple's Standard EULA. These Terms supplement that license without replacing it or mandatory legal protections. Third-party services such as Apple Maps also have their own terms.

3. Permissions, accuracy and limitations

Background recording requires appropriate location permissions; photo access is optional. Signals, system restrictions, power conditions, force-quitting and software faults can cause omissions or errors. Routes, distances and transport classifications are estimates. Fixed battery use or uninterrupted, error-free recording is not guaranteed.

LifeMapping is a personal journal, not an emergency, safety-monitoring or location-verification system. Do not operate it while driving or otherwise unsafe. Some maps and place queries require internet access; offline recording does not mean every feature works offline.

4. Local data and deletion

We do not keep a server copy of your complete journal. The first release provides no complete backup or export and does not guarantee recovery or transfer to a new phone. Device loss, app deletion or faults can cause data loss.

Delete App in iOS removes app-local data; Offload App may retain it. Original photos, system backups and sent emails are managed separately. These explanations do not waive our legally required duty of reasonable care.

5. Initial free access and later subscriptions

The first public release is fully free, without paid feature restrictions. This does not promise that every feature or date of history will remain free forever, and it does not authorize automatic charges.

A later version is planned to retain free recording and viewing of approximately the most recent seven days. Subscribers would view all history still stored on the device. Older records created during the initial free period may also fall outside the later free viewing window. Restricted viewing does not itself delete records; free features remain available without subscribing. Dates, prices, periods and feature differences will be specified separately.

We will prominently explain the introductory arrangement and give advance notice of changes affecting older records, respecting acquired rights and applicable law. We will not disguise pricing changes as maintenance. Purchases require your affirmative confirmation, with renewal and cancellation rules disclosed beforehand. Refunds follow Apple rules and applicable law. Deleting the app does not cancel subscriptions. A paywall does not remove statutory personal-information access rights.

6. Updates and service changes

For security, compatibility, repairs or legitimate operational needs, we may update, change or discontinue services, giving reasonable advance notice where appropriate. Some functions may require a minimum supported version. If an update also changes free access, we will explain that clearly; requiring an update does not authorize payment.

These rights do not permit unlawful removal of purchased entitlements, retroactive charges or destruction of history for declining a purchase. Before a planned shutdown or material restriction, we will explain actual data-preservation options without promising an export feature that does not exist.

7. Responsibility and disputes

We work to maintain reliability but do not guarantee that the app meets every need or is free of faults. Where lawful, we exclude business losses arising from this personal-use product and indirect losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.

These Terms do not exclude fraud, negligence liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, non-waivable rights under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable laws, or our mandatory responsibilities for our product. Applicable law and courts are determined by the relevant rules; protected local remedies are not waived. You may stop using the app at any time. Serious unlawful use or abuse may lead to necessary restrictions on services we operate.

8. Privacy, feedback and changes

Our Privacy Policy explains information handling. Accepting these Terms is not consent to optional analytics or marketing.

Send ideas or issues to [email protected]. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, you permit us to evaluate and implement voluntarily submitted product suggestions without promised payment, credit or release dates. This does not authorize publication of private correspondence or photos.

Material changes to these Terms receive appropriate notice and fresh acceptance where required. Revisions do not retroactively create payment obligations or remove acquired rights. If a provision is invalid, the remainder applies to the extent lawful.
